To the northern fringe of the Rosensteinpark is the well known 'Wilhelma', Germany's only mixed zoological and botanical garden. The whole compound, with its ornate pavilions, greenhouses, partitions and gardens was designed close to 1850 as a summer palace in moorish fashion for King Wilhelm I of Württemberg.
